Chapter One :Chapter 1

"Wah wah~"

"Officer, save me, I've been abandoned."

"My daddy abandoned me when I was born, he didn't want me and my mom."

"And now, my mom doesn't want me either."

"I have nowhere to go."

"I'm an abandoned child..."

"Wuh wuh~"

"The teacher said to seek help from policemen when in trouble. Could you please help me?"

Seacity.

International Airport Police Station entrance.

A little one with a tear-streaked face, dirt all over, plump little hand tightly grasping the uniformed policeman. Eyes swirling with tears, crying so hard, he was gasping for breath.

Two policemen working the night shift stepped out intending to buy some late-night snacks but had their path blocked by the tearful toddler. Seeing the child crying hysterically, they found it hard to ignore it.

Ignoring their late-night snacks, they brought the little boy into the station hall, continuously comforting him.

"My little friend, be good, don't cry. Can you tell uncle what your name is? What are your dad's and mom's phone numbers? Uncle will help you find them, okay?"

A crafty gleam passed through the tearful toddler's eyes, vanishing as quickly as it appeared, so fast that the two night-shift police didn't notice at all.

"Uncle, can... can you guys arrest both of them?"

"Why should we arrest both of them?" queried the two policemen with doubt.

It's understandable for the child to resent the man for deserting his wife and child, and the fact that the child's mother often complains in front of the child.

But why would the mother need to be arrested?

After all, it was her who had raised the child alone in hardship for the past five years.

"People always say that police catch bad guys. So, you guys go catch my dad. He's nothing but a irresponsible scumbag who deserted his wife and child. I haven't seen him since I was born. And my mommy, she's usually nowhere in sight, often leaves me alone at home."

My God!

What kind of parents are they? The child is so pitiful.

No wonder he constantly wishes for his parents to be arrested.

Seeing the child so reliant on the police, they felt an instant wave of pride in their profession.

So, they comforted the child more patiently, "Uncle will first call them over to understand the situation. If it's really as you've indicated, we will definitely educate and criticize them seriously. If they resist, and the situation is serious, they may face up to five years’ imprisonment, detention or community correction."

Little treasure raised his head, his little mouth kept moving repeatedly, like a machine gun that had been set off.

"Uncle, I think you can lock up my dad and give him a sentence. It would be best if he goes to jail for five years, no, ten years;

As for mommy, she is afraid of the dark at night and terrified of thunder during rainy days. She can't live without me. You guys just need to seriously criticize and educate her, let her realize her mistakes, and not leave me alone at home in the future."

"Well, you've thought it out quite clearly. You're a smart child. Now, can you tell uncle the phone number?"

"My name is Xiao Bao, my mommy's phone number: 18238......"

"My daddy's phone number: 18888......"

"Okay, Xiao Bao, don't cry. We will call your parents now, so they can come to pick you up."

Xiao Bao nodded and indeed stopped crying, eagerly waiting for the police's decision.

Since both police officers were fresh graduates from the police academy, knew that Xiao Bao was a child abandoned by his family, they were filled with youthful vigor and righteous indignation. Upon getting his parents' contact information, they hurriedly dialed in.

His mother's call couldn’t be reached and the voice prompt indicated that she was not in the country.

"Xiao Bao, is your mommy not in the country?"

"She's in America. She's probably undergoing surgery right now. Uncle Police, you might be able to reach her by tomorrow."

Undergoing surgery?

Is she a doctor?

Doctors are supposed to be compassionate, how could she abandon her own child?

Is she a career-oriented woman who only cares about her own career and can afford to give up everything else? Sigh! Young people nowadays are too utilitarian. It's not surprising to see such people.

The two officers then dialed the second number.

Beep... Beep...

It took a while for the call to be picked up, and a cold voice came from the other end of the phone, "Hello, who is this?"

"Sir, your son is currently at the international airport police station. Please bring the relevant documents and verify the case with us as soon as possible," one of the officers explained in an orderly fashion.

"You've got the wrong number, I don’t have a son."

With a clatter, the call abruptly ended on the other side.

Beep beep....... The phone rang once again and was answered.

"Sir, your child has accused you of abandonment. If you refuse to comply, we have the right to detain you in accordance with the law. Please come and submit to our investigation promptly," said the somewhat irritable policeman with a firm tone.

After a pause on the other end of the line, three words were spoken, "Understood." Then they hung up again.

"Little Li, can you believe that there are parents like that? Will he come or not?" a police officer, puzzled, asked the person next to him.

Shaking his head and shrugging, Little Li replied, "Let's wait a bit longer! If he doesn't show up, we'll report to the chief when we come to work tomorrow."

"Right, that's all we can do. This poor kid, Little Li, do you have something to eat? Give it to the child first to fill his stomach," another officer, fearing Little Bao might cry again, thought that snacking could help relieve his anxiety.

"I have some chips here, I'm busy at the moment, you give it to him first," Little Li, who was recording the case, said to his colleague.

"Alright." The other officer walked over to Little Li's desk, picked up the chips on it, and walked over to Little Bao, "All we have here are chips, do you want some?"

Chips were his favorite.

Blinking his large round eyes, Little Bao nodded repeatedly, "Thank you, policeman." His round little hand reached out to take the chips, and he started munching cheerfully, completely forgetting his earlier misery.

Twenty minutes later, a black Rolls Royce pulled up in front of the police station. A man in a suit and leather shoes stepped out of the car. He had an extraordinary demeanor, exuding a noble and cool air.

The man was the heir to a top-tier financial conglomerate and the head of one of the four major families in Luo City, the Huo Family. His name was Huo Liancheng.

With handsome, pronounced features and a tall, straight nose, a pair of deep eyes framed by golden wire glasses emitted a mysterious green glow. His overall aura was cold and detached.

Hu Liancheng strode through the police station's main entrance, his icy gaze briefly landing on the little bun who was sitting in the main hall munching on chips.

An almost imperceptible frown crossed his face; with serious expression, he took determined strides towards the child.

The little bun, mid-bite into a potato chip, was so shocked by the sight of the man who looked strikingly identical to him that he dropped the chip he just stuffed into his mouth.

The man was indeed his biological father, the total jerk who had abandoned him and his mother.

Thinking of the hurt he had caused his mother these years, and his irresponsibility, the little bun got angry. He was utterly unforgiving.

He quickly stood up from the bench and shouted, "Officer, he's the jerk who abandoned his wife and child. Quickly, arrest him!" As soon as his words fell, he darted away on his short legs as quickly as he could, eager to escape the immediate danger.
